Questions People Often Ask Before Getting Started

01

Getting Started

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy, but many people do seek support when things feel overwhelming, painful, or difficult to manage alone. It can also be helpful if you feel stuck, low, anxious, disconnected, or notice harmful patterns in your relationships, emotions, or life. Therapy is also a space for reflection, celebration and personal growth, even when life is going relatively well. If you are asking the question, it may be worth exploring whether support could be helpful for you.

Online therapy takes place through a secure video session from a private space of your choice. Sessions include conversation, reflection, and therapeutic work focused on what matters most to you and your goals. You and your therapist can see and hear each other in real time, and many people find that a sense of connection develops naturally during the session. The therapeutic relationship and depth of work are comparable to in-person therapy, with presence, empathy, and attention conveyed through voice, expression, and engagement.

Book a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your situation, ask questions, and determine if counselling is a good fit. It is a chance to explore your options and feel confident about starting therapy.

Sessions & Format

Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, providing enough time to explore concerns, discuss strategies, and practice new skills.

I provide therapy exclusively online through a secure HIPAA, PIPEDA, and PCI compliant platform. Virtual therapy allows you to attend sessions from a comfortable space of your choice, providing privacy, convenience, and consistent professional support. In-person sessions are not offered at this time.

I offer support to teens (16 and older), young adults, and adults at all life stages. I recommend young children see a therapist in person.

Initially, weekly or bi-weekly sessions are recommended to make steady progress. Frequency can be adjusted to fit your schedule, goals, and pace, ensuring therapy is practical and sustainable.

The number of sessions required is unique to each individual, depending on personal goals and the challenges being addressed. Together, we can create a tailored plan that reflects your situation, focusing on what is most relevant and effective for your growth and healing.

Cost & Insurance

Fees depend on session length and service type. Please reach out for details about options and fees.

Many Ontario insurance providers cover psychotherapy, but coverage depends on your plan. After every payment an official receipt is provided for submission to your insurance company. Please contact your provider to confirm your coverage for psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist.
