When Hope Feels Far Away: Depression Therapy in Ontario
Book my FREE 20-min consultationDepression can affect far more than your mood. It can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming, drain energy from things that once felt meaningful, and leave you wondering why everything seems to require so much effort. Sometimes it feels like sadness. Other times it feels like numbness, disconnection, or simply getting through the day as best you can.
Depression therapy offers a space to talk about what you have been carrying, make sense of your experience, and explore what healing and change might look like for you.
You do not have to carry it alone.
You’re Not Alone
Depression often affects people in ways that are difficult to explain to others. You may feel disconnected from yourself, from the people around you, or from parts of life that once brought a sense of meaning, purpose, or enjoyment.
Things that seem simple for other people may require enormous effort. You may find yourself withdrawing from relationships, struggling to make decisions, feeling weighed down by self-criticism, or wondering why it is so difficult to access motivation and hope.
Depression can also feel isolating. It is common to believe that other people would not understand what you are experiencing or to feel pressure to hide how difficult things have become.
Therapy offers a place where these experiences can be explored openly, with care, compassion, and without judgment.

How Depression Therapy Can Help You Move Forward
Depression can narrow our view of ourselves, our relationships, and our future. When life has felt heavy for a long time, it can be difficult to imagine that things could feel different.
Therapy provides a space to explore your experience with curiosity and compassion. Together, we can begin to understand the circumstances, patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to what you are carrying today.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to the individual. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), systems theory, and communication-focused approaches informed by Focusing. Rather than applying a fixed formula, we work together to identify what feels most relevant and helpful for your situation.
For some people, therapy focuses on practical strategies and coping tools. For others, it involves reconnecting with strengths, relationships, values, and parts of themselves that have become difficult to access. Often, meaningful change emerges through a combination of understanding, support, and small but important shifts over time.
