When You're Always Waiting for Something to Go Wrong: Anxiety Therapy in Ontario
Book my FREE 20-min consultationLiving with anxiety can be exhausting. Sometimes it looks like constant worry and overthinking. Other times it shows up as tension, panic, self-doubt, perfectionism, difficulty relaxing, or a feeling that you always need to stay one step ahead. Even when things seem okay on the surface, it can be hard to shake the sense that something might go wrong or that you should be doing more to prevent it.
Over time, living in a state of anticipation can take a toll. Anxiety therapy can help you understand what is driving the anxiety and find ways of responding that feel less exhausting and more manageable over time.
You’re Not Alone
Anxiety can show up in many different ways. For some people, it looks like constant worry. For others, it appears as racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, panic, perfectionism, self-criticism, or feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities that never seem to end.
You may find yourself replaying conversations, questioning decisions, preparing for every possible outcome, or feeling responsible for things that are beyond your control. Even when there is no immediate danger, your mind and body may struggle to fully settle.
Over time, anxiety can begin to take up more space than you would like, affecting relationships, work, confidence, and your ability to enjoy the present moment. Therapy offers a place to better understand these patterns and explore what may help you feel more grounded, capable, and at ease.

How Anxiety Therapy Can Help You Move Forward
When anxiety becomes a regular part of life, it can be difficult to know whether you are responding to what is happening right now or to what your mind is anticipating might happen next. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand your experience and develop ways of responding that feel more supportive and effective.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to the individual. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), systems theory, and communication-focused approaches informed by Focusing. Together, we explore not only the symptoms of anxiety, but also the patterns, experiences, relationships, and expectations that may be contributing to it.
For some people, this involves developing practical tools for managing worry, panic, or nervous system activation. For others, it means exploring deeper patterns of self-criticism, responsibility, uncertainty, or fear. Often, it is a combination of both.
The goal is not to eliminate anxiety altogether, but to help you develop a different relationship with it so that it no longer has to shape so much of your life.
